Written by a pediatric ER physician, NERVES OF STEEL combines gritty realism with the adrenalin rush of the ER. New York Times Bestseller CJ Lyons uses her insider's knowledge of life behind the scenes to reveal the hidden truth of the medical world: No one is immune to danger.

This book allows you to see into the life of a detective and an ER doctor as they try to save lives and find the bad strain of drugs that is killing Hart’s patients. Lyons does a great job of creating characters that were likable and believable. There is plenty of action and suspense and the end is sure to surprise you. This is a great combination of love, compassion, heartbreak and suspense.

Pros:
* strong, likable main characters
* supporting characters have relevance to the story throughout
* good mix of romance and suspense

Cons:
* medical jargon that could be hard for some to understand
* Hart made some stupid decisions for someone as smart as she is
* Very little insight into characters personal lives outside of work
